Optical examination methods

Optical examination methods for textiles are an indispensable special area of textile examination when it comes to identification, product development and clearance of damages in fibres and fabrics.

Thread counter

Using a good thread counter in reflected light with a 6-fold magnification yet a good proposition can be made.

For our thread counters we pay attention to a robust and stable metal style, a high-class bi-convex glass lens, a great field of view of 28 mm and a measurement surface of 15 x 15 mm. With this mistakes can even be documented with a mobile phone camera. The thread counters can be delivered either with or without LED lighting.

For more demanding tasks we rely on a stereo microscope in transmitted or reflected light for a three-dimensional perspective. Magnification up until 90:1 yield at good selectivity very distinct solid pictures. We especially recommend the stereo microscope in process control where great magnifications are not necessary but three-dimensional inspections of fabric defects, holes, stains, adhesive points or analyses of coating defects are important.

For high-end labor applications we focus on a binocular textile microscope for transmitted or reflected microscopy in bright field. Areas of operation in the labor are for example the identification of fabrics and substances, cross-section analyses, proofs of impairment and fault analysis. In association with the tubus (10x) and the high class objectives EPI A 4x/0,13 - 10x/0,30 - 40x/0,65 - 60x/0,85 a resolution of 0,32 µm can be achieved by a maximum magnification of 600.

Both the stereo and the binocular microscope have a connection possibility for photographical documentation using the CMOS camera (3,2 megapixels) via a third tubus.
